Aiteann ( 'Whin' or 'Furze' ) merged with blue resin symbolising the shores of Lough Mask where the wood in this piece came from in Co Mayo. In Irish law furze was considered one of the Losa fédo or Bushes of the wood. As one of the sacred trees, it was always included in Celtic Beltane bonfires. The live edge of each slice is so alive going in many directions. The wood helps those that have given up hope. It puts one in touch with our own inner resources and helps us to move forward by releasing determination and courage.
